And Now Hyundai Veloster 2012 Sports Coupe Not Spy - Detroit Auto Show 2011

The Veloster has been on edge for months, years, all to discover for the first time today as part of Detroit. Does what we expected? For while the aesthetic is debatable (to taste colors) I'm going to play me a stoning complaining directly about what I see and read in the press release. Vale, comment on a data sheet and translated into feelings of driving is extremely complex, but I've taken a considerable disappointment with the production Veloster.

Detroit Auto Show 2011: Hyundai Curb Concept Small Crossover

Hyundai Curb Concept

Trouble is brewing for the Nissan Juke. Hyundai has made in its assault on the Curb Detroit, a concept that aims to guide the style "Fluidic Sculpture" at the garages of younger consumers. The result is a small SUV (4.1 meters), almost with an air of coupe, and a daring shared with the equally impressive Veloster, which has also received his first bath of masses in Detroit. His conduct fell under the responsibility of studying the South Korean manufacturer in California.

Hyundai will re-enter the affordable coupe market this year with the Veloster, shown for the first time at the Detroit motor show.

The new car has the unusual layout of a single door on the driver’s side and two conventional doors on the passenger side. Hyundai says this format is the same on both left and right hand drive models.

When it arrives in the UK, the Veloster will be “priced between the Renault Megane Coupe and VW Scirocco”, according to Hyundai sources.

Anyway, more interesting thing here is that Veloster strongly reminiscent of the coupe, but at the same time provides the functionality inherent in the hatch. This is possible thanks to the extra door on the passenger side with a hidden handle helps to keep the compartments typical design.

Running the Veloster is entrusted to the all-new 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine Gamma - the smallest of the power units of Hyundai, which uses technology GDI (gasoline direct injection).

GDI engine Gamma 1,6 is equipped with a change of camshaft phasing D-CVVT, develops maximum power of 138 hp at 6300 rpm and maximum torque of 167 Nm at 4850 rpm.

The car comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox or with the first transmission Hyundai's dual-clutch (DCT) with the same 6-degrees. It has eco mode (Active Eco), which removed the fuel consumption by 7%.

The vehicle boasts more with multiple security systems and equipment rich. Inside is an integrated multi-touch responding 7-inch screen that can play audio and video formats. The system also features a Pandora internet radio ("pull" Internet radio iPhone, Android and Blackberry), hard drive, Bluetooth connectivity with voice recognition, ability to load phone book, and rear view camera.

Veloster is equipped with a telematics system Blue Link. Crash and airbag deployment, it sends a signal to the user data and location of the car to a non-stop emergency center. The same procedure can be activated by pressing a dedicated SOS button in the car.

Blue Link offers opportunities for remote locking and unlocking doors, starting horn and lights and start the engine.

The system also notify the owner to activate the alarm via text message, email or call automatically, allows for notification of selected contacts from social networks including Facebook for its location - directly from the car and sending SMS with voice input text.

Blue Link carry out diagnostics of the vehicle, notifying the driver of any problems and gives instructions for immediate action, inform the owner via email or SMS about upcoming maintenance and sending monthly reports full results of testing, the system eco-coach and other important information.

The new technology provides for measures against theft of the car as well as opportunities for area control of movement and speed of the car (suitable for control of teenagers by their parents). Blue Link includes all the features of the most sophisticated navigation systems.

Still no information on when Veloster will enter the market.

Detroit 2011: Hyundai Concept Curb, to counter the Nissan Juke

Hyundai showed his bike station at the opening of the Detroit show has also introduced a concept car called the Curb. From its original forms, the crossover seems to directly confront the recent Nissan Juke which is said to have marked the minds and aroused a lot of orders. Koreans are determined to invest all niches.

The Curb deploys the design language called Fluidic sculpture on the theme of a small compact crossover aimed at a younger than usual. Officials of the Korean state that wanted an urban vehicle that does not look like a truck transporting money, hence the tortured lines of the Curb. The engine is the new 1.6-liter 4-cylinder that produces 175 hp with the addition of a turbo, the power spreads to the road via 22-inch wheels with Michelin road. The new 6-speed dual-clutch box is also part of the highway and consumption would fall under the 6l/100km.

The machine is adapted to its customers as an integrated bicycle carrier is hiding in the back when, as on the bike station, two small doors facilitate access to the rear while a roof rack provides storage originals. The interior features a large touchscreen and a head-up display shows GPS data and the images of mirrors. The technology package grouped under the label Blue Link is also in the game.
This Curb HCD12 is otherwise known as indicated by its code name the twelfth office concept of American design from Hyundai.

First Sketch: Hyundai Curb Concept

Just a few days prior to the 2011 Detroit auto show, Hyundai has teased a second vehicle that will debut alongside its production-bound Veloster. Besides the fact that it’s an SUV concept called the Curb, Hyundai has thus far given no other details beyond being told it was designed at Hyundai’s California Design Center. We will, however, have full details around 3 p.m. on Monday, January 10.

That’s not to say we can’t figure some stuff out. From the two teaser images, it appears as if the Curb will truly be a concept—meaning it’s possible we’ll see its design influence future products, but a direct take on the Curb isn’t likely to roll up to real-world curbs anytime soon. A gander at the futuristic interior reveals high-tech gadgetry like a giant, unusually shaped infotainment screen in the center stack (it boasts an iTunes-style cover-flow interface for music; the creator of the sketch apparently vibes on Mos Def and Phoenix, among others); touch-sensitive controls littered about throughout; and thin-backed bucket seats. All of this stuff would theoretically be possible today, but it will be a while before any of it actually makes it into production cars.

On the outside, the Curb’s styling looks to be a further evolution of Hyundai’s current “Fluidic Sculpture” design direction, and the whole thing is capped by a greenhouse similar to the new Land Rover Evoque’s. We also can discern that the Curb will have two full-size doors with at least one half door behind the front passenger. Large, cross-drilled rotors fill the giant wheels, and the Curb’s stance is decidedly sporty.

All in all, the Curb looks like a fun concept—check back Monday afternoon for full details and more images.

First Sketch: 2012 Hyundai Sonata/i40 Wagon

Wagons roll at Hyundai! The Korean firm is set to take on the VW Passat from next year with this, the new i40. The newcomer has been developed by Hyundai’s German R&D centre in Russelsheim specifically with European buyers in mind.

So in order to coax people from their Passats and Avensis’, the i40 will debut as an estate first, with Hyundai claiming the car offers more space for passengers and luggage that its key rivals. The i40 debuts at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The estate arrives in the UK in May, and the saloon follows in November.

Underneath, Hyundai has borrowed the front and rear of two different platforms, the Elantra and Sonata respectively, to create a chassis which the firm hopes has what it takes to outhandle the competition.

The stop-start-equipped engine range is very much in keeping with the current downsizing trend. There’s just one petrol, an all-new 2.0-litre direct injection unit which develops 174bhp and emits 156g/km of CO2. However, the big sellers will be its 1.7-litre diesels. Two versions will be offered at first. Both are single turbo units, with 114bhp and 134bhp respectively, while a twin-turbo flagship arrives in 2012.

On the inside, Hyundai promises an upmarket interior made using high quality materials. Auto Express has seen it, and can confirmed that the swooping dash design is much like that of the Vauxhall Insignia, and features a wealth of soft-touch plastics and plenty of storage space.

Tech highlights include adaptive headlights and a self-parking system. Hyundai is yet to confirm prices or trim levels, but it will be specced competitively and will include the firm’s impressive five-year, unlimited mileage warranty. For more details click here.
